Change service tag on dell 12th gen?

I have an R720XD but I exercise take the idrac file for a dell R720.

I heard you tin can reset the service tag on the machine and so import the file.

My question is, has anyone done this AND would it be problematic if you're putting a 720 stag on a 720XD?

download the asset utility from back up.dell.com I don't have the link handy but it should exist the unpackaged version copy information technology to a bootable usb - run asset.com /s SVCTAG1 (whatever the service tag is) and bam. done.

I don't believe information technology's possible on a 12th gen to modify the service tag without special hardware/software that the Dell authorized service technicians have. I looked into it a few months ago was wasn't able to find a way.

Hey, you're able to do it you'll need to visit ftp://ftp.dell.com/utility/ and download asset_a209

Rename it to asset.exe and open up it in does (create a freedos usb with rufus and re-create the file over)

Run the command asset /s /d to delete the service tag

then run nugget /s XXXXX (ten = new service tag)

and boom you're done!

Yep sir :) All y'all need is your "original" idrac license that you lot tin can consign from the idrac (licenses tab)
