Halloween is just around the corner, only if yous bustle you lot can still make this DIY Don't Let the Pigeon Bulldoze the Bus Halloween Costume just in time for trick or treating. Virtually of the materials tin be found on Amazon, Walmart, and Dollar Tree.

Originally, my 4 year old had decided, about 4 months ago, that he wanted to exist a garbage truck driver (conveniently the same thing he wants to be when he grows up) for Halloween, and I idea I had it made in the shade when I found a Waste Management costume on Amazon. Information technology was perfect because it involved no painting, cutting, sewing, or frantic last-infinitesimal Goodwill hunting (no pun intended)!

And then my little child with a mind of his ain decided to call an audible with the costume literally in my cart just seconds before clicking "place your club"! Thankfully I didn't click. Instead, he decided he wanted to exist the Pigeon from one of his favorite book series' Don't Allow the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems. At first, I thought I'll but do a quick Amazon search for this very specific costume. But, no results. There are no pre-made, ready to society Pigeon costumes anywhere take Etsy for $100! No thanks.

Instead, I did some Pinterest research, gathered some materials I already had, bought a brilliant bluish hooded nothing-up sweater, and got to work. This DIY Don't Allow the Pigeon Bulldoze the Bus Halloween Costume actually works out perfect for my son'due south literacy day at school and Halloween. Tin't beat 2 costumes for the toll of one.

Promise you relish my DIY Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus Costume!

Items Needed:

  • 1 Turquoise Hooded Sweater
  • 2 Sheets of Turquoise Felt (9"x12")
  • two Sheets of White Felt (nine"x12")
  • 1 Sheet of Black Felt (9"x12")
  • 1 Sheet of Yellow Felt (ix"x12")
  • Small Safety Pins (Dollar Tree or Walmart)
  • Hot Mucilage Gun
  • Permanent Mark
  • Fabric Pair of scissors
  • Double-Sided Fabric Tape (Dritz make from Walmart)
  • Tissues (Dollar Tree)

Directions:

  1. Eyes: Using a permanent marker, draw 2 4" circles onto the white felt. Cut the circles out around the outside edges so the black edges are showing in one case they're both cut out. Next, draw a black circle for the iris inside each eye (about 1" in diameter). Adhere each eye to the sides of the hood (towards the top, near the seam) with double-stick textile tape.
  2. Collar: Cut two strips of white felt each 3"x12" long. Adjacent cut 2 strips of black felt 2.v"x12" long. Mucilage each white strip to the middle of each black strip so gum the completed pieces together to brand 1 long strip. Using double-stick fabric record, attach the strip to the base of the hood. Cut off whatever access.
  3. Beak: Describe two triangles on the yellow felt (three"-vi"). Glue two sides together and then stuff with tissue paper or Kleenex. Seal the remaining side with glue and then attach the beak to the under part of the hood (at the centre).
  4. Wings: Depict ii D shapes that are the same length equally the armpit of the sweater to the sleeve. Attach the wings with 3 prophylactic pins or sew them on for added support.
